At Aegean Rebreath, we are proud to maintain genuine and meaningful relationships with our partners, sharing common concerns. This is why we were delighted to receive a phone call from the President of the Fishermen of Alonissos two months ago, asking for sacks that could be used to collect floating debris encountered by the fishermen at sea.
At that exact time, we once again received valuable support from Maris Pearls, which, as always, aimed to promote innovative ideas and practices. The conditions were ideal! We immediately conducted market research to find durable and reusable sacks, and when they were found, we ensured that an adequate quantity was sent to the fishing association. We only needed to wait before we concluded if this endeavor would truly be impactful.
Two months later, the messages we are receiving are extremely encouraging. The fishermen of Alonissos island are using the sacks we supplied on a daily basis and find them particularly useful. It is also encouraging that the plastic they collect is disposed of at the marine litter collection station we maintain on the island. Therefore, we cannot help but extend a huge thank you to the fishermen of the island as well as to Maris Pearls for its trust and multifaceted support of our efforts!
