Kassos belongs to the island complex of the Dodecanese in the Aegean Sea, being the southernmost island with a coastline length of 59 km. According to the 2021 census, Kassos has 1,223 permanent residents, while during the summer period it receives significant tourist flows.

Practices for the marine environment

The Municipality of Heroic Island of Kassos is a founding member of the network and has implemented the following practices for the preservation of the marine ecosystem:

  • 1 Marine Litter Collection Station at the port near the fishing boats that has contributed to the collection of 32,265 pieces of recyclable materials and 150 kg of fishing gear (2022-2023)
