The Municipality of Kalamata falls within the Regional Unit of Messenia in the Region of Peloponnese, where Kalamata is the largest city in the region. The municipality covers an area of 440.3 km² and comprises the municipal units of Kalamata, Thouria, Aris, and Arfara.
